The focus of the research is on functionalized conducting polymers having properties such as low band gap, chirality, or acceptor properties. Emphasis has also been on polymers with combined redox and conjugated structures. The characterization of the polymers is made in thin film configuration either made electrochemically or deposited from a soluble chemically synthesized polymer. The opto-electronic and vibrational changes taking place during the doping of the polymers are studied by spectroelectrochemistry. The applications that we are aiming at are organic and hybrid solar cells, transistors, LED:s and memory devices.
